š¾ Frequently Asked Questions
How does the process work?
After you place your order with Specialized Pet Solutions, we immediately send you a casting kit along with detailed instructions. You and your veterinarian will use the kit to create a cast of your petās limb. Once we receive the cast, we begin fabrication, which typically takesĀ 7ā10 business days.
Can the orthotic or prosthetic get wet?
Yes, it can! We build our products usingĀ non-porous foamĀ on the inside and aĀ polypropylene shellĀ on the outside. These materials are easy to clean and resistant to moisture. While the straps should be air-dried, the strap padsāmade from the same non-porous foamāalso resist water and clean easily.
How long will the brace last?
With proper use, our braces can last forĀ years. However, over time, you may need to replace the straps, pads, or tread (if applicable). Regular maintenance helps ensure long-term durability and performance.
Is the product returnable?
No, our orthotic and prosthetic devices areĀ custom-madeĀ for each pet, so they are not returnable. While we guarantee a proper fit, we cannot guarantee that every animal will accept the device.
What makes your dog knee brace unique?
OurĀ custom stifle braceĀ stands out because it relieves pressure on the Achilles tendon. Unlike traditional designs that tighten over the tendon, our brace usesĀ non-slip materialĀ at the tarsus/hock and positions the strap across the front of the leg. This design allows the tendon to function naturally and helps prevent further injury.
Do dog knee braces work?
Yes, they do! OurĀ custom dog knee bracesĀ stabilize the knee and prevent drawer motion, which is a common cause of injury. By minimizing this motion, the ligament has a better chance to heal naturally over time.
Do braces help ACL tears in dogs?
Absolutely. Our braces limitĀ lateral and medial movementĀ of the knee, giving the ligament time to heal. In many cases, dogs recover without needing surgery.
How many hours a day should a dog wear a knee brace?
Start with aĀ two-week break-in period. Gradually increase the wear time each day until your dog can wear the brace during the day. Be sure to remove it at night to allow for rest and recovery.
What is the best brace for a dog with a torn ACL?
At Specialized Pet Solutions, weāve created aĀ one-of-a-kind dog knee brace. It includes a built-inĀ patellar barĀ to prevent side-to-side movement and anĀ Achilles relief channelĀ to avoid pressure on the tendon. This innovative design protects your dogās leg and promotes healing.
Can I walk my dog with a torn ACL?
Yes, you can. However,Ā support is essential. Using a brace helps prevent overextension and provides stability, which reduces the risk of worsening the injury. It also supports the healing process by keeping the ligament protected during walks.
